Listen on your preferred podcast app

In this warm, wide-ranging conversation, Dr. John Hubbard, Strategic Healthcare Advisor, Board Member, and former CEO and President of multiple organizations across pharma and CROs, sits down with longtime friend Patty to reflect on a career that has spanned nearly every side of drug development: bench science, big pharma, a fast-growing CRO, and a private equity-backed technology company. A self-described “border collie” who never likes to rest on his laurels, John shares how a mentor’s regular nudge to keep moving shaped his remarkable path.

You’ll hear John and Patty explore how industry collaboration opened up critical conversations about quality, what it takes to lead a large-scale transformation, and how the CRO industry has evolved since its earliest days. They also dig into the tension between innovation and risk aversion, why so many good ideas stall, and the mindset that helps leaders weather the inevitable setbacks. This episode explores what it takes to build strong foundations and still move boldly in a cautious industry.
